12 Important Thoughts God Uses to Chart My Course (in no particular order)

1. While I am meeting with Christians in America over soy lattes about their marriages, kids, and general state of discontent, brothers and sisters and their children in other parts of the world are being decapitated because they will not renounce Christ.
2. At the exact moment of this writing my oldest daughter has 122 weeks until high school graduation; my middle daughter has 227 weeks until graduation, and my youngest daughter has 488 weeks until high school graduation. The clock is ticking. #legacy
3. My wife deserves more of Brian and less of Pastor Brian. After all she married Brian, that boy from homeroom.
4. The most important message I can deliver to anyone or any group is the gospel of Jesus Christ as defined in the Scriptures; not the American, southern, religious, works based, half gospel that lulls people into false security and leads them to hell. Nor the gospel of health and wealth whose measure of salvation is earthly prosperity and forgets that God’s purpose is not to make us rich temporarily but to build His Kingdom eternally.
5. When believers in Jesus Christ gather for worship, the experience should be obviously Spirit and Truth empowered. No Spirit, no power. No truth, no purpose.
6. I need a few really good friends.
7. The concept of family is in shambles in our culture and we must do something about it now.
8. Revitalize existing churches and plant new churches because there are too many dead, apathetic, toxic, irrelevant existing churches that only tarnish the good name of Jesus. Likewise, there are not nearly enough churches in the world to reach every person with the gospel and disciple them. So, we have to plant new ones.
9. No matter how crazy the world gets, Jesus is majestic and victorious and will return at just the right time… and I believe He is coming soon. #urgency
10. The church and the family must partner to win the next generation for Christ and disciple them.
11. Love God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love people like He does.
12. Pray more and depend on the power of the Holy Spirit. I can’t do even a percentage of what God has placed on my heart in regards to the gospel, family, church, and the general state of lostness in the world, apart from the powerful working of the Holy Spirit.

These really spoke to me today. As we are in seminary and praying for God’s leading, more and more this has been our heart. God, lead us where you need us!

I can see this unconfirmed news about the Iraqis who were beheaded for not renouncing their faith is already going viral on Christian sites. There is no verification. Better to use guarded language until proof is found.
