After speaking at the D6 conference in Frisco, Texas I received several questions from ministry leaders wanting to know more about “Parent Summit” at Kingsland.  To learn more read on…

Parent Summit is an event we offer (2x) per year for parents who would like to discover what it means to intentionally lead their children spiritually.  Parent Summit is not our only method at Kingsland for motivating, equipping, and encouraging parents but it is the event that supports our strategy to connect church and home called “Legacy Milestones“.

At Parent Summit we hope to help parents accomplish 3 important tasks:

  • Discover where their children are currently on the path of legacy milestones.
  • Learn how to lead their children spiritually toward the next milestone.
  • Acquire resources that will help them in their specific journey on the legacy path.

To do this we host 2 general sessions with everyone together.  We have a speaker or speakers that will serve to encourage and motivate parents to own their responsibility as primary faith trainers for their children.  After the first general session we offer two sets of breakout sessions.  These breakout sessions offer seminars supporting each milestone.  We ask parents to take a seminar a year or so ahead of their child or teenagers current place on the path.  Then we use the seminar to equip them to lead  intentional faith talks, capture God moments, and Celebrate the coming milestone in a memorable way.

During the breakout sessions we also offer 2 pre-requisite seminars: “How to Lead a Faith Talk” and “Life in Christ.”  We believe it is important for parents to learn how to lead a Faith Talk as they begin the journey of leading their children spiritually.  We also believe that being an effective faith trainer for your child means that you are living and authentic life in Christ.  To see examples of our seminars visit www.legacymilestones.com.

Each Milestone seminar highlights key resources and tools parents need for the next phase of the faith training journey.  We offer those resources immediately during the conference in a make shift bookstore we call the legacy resource center.  We are learning that putting the tools in the hand of the parent when they feel the need is the most effective method for filling their “tool box.”

Parent Summit has become a very effective way for us to connect with parents, highlight the legacy milestones strategy, and equip families for the process.
