Ok, I will admit it. I am coming in the back door on this one. This is probably not the typical “parenting” topic… but is should be. In fact this may be the most important aspect of parenting. How can we lead our children SPIRITually if we neglect our own life in the Spirit.
Before you get all “weirded” out on me, I am not talking about some ethereal life of incense and meditation in a secret compound uttering mysterious chants. Instead I mean embrace Biblical life in a very natural connection with God through His Spirit because of the resurrected Christ. Consider this scripture found in Romans 8:5
“Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.”
One question: How would your life change if your mind was set on what the Spirit desires?
Take a moment…make a list of what comes to mind. If you are bold enough share your list by commenting. My guess is that issues relating to parenting may be at the top of the list.
Do the Hard Things: Walk in the Spirit. Live your list.
Brian,
These are my thoughts.
Be selfless and give of myself to all who are in need spiritually and physically by constantly calling on God’s Spirit for strength and guidance in all things and to do his will always for the glory of his name.
This sounds so grand, now if I could only do this all the time. Even some of the time! Maybe even with one person I meet each day.
For me to start with family is the right place. It is where I have caused the most hurt and so it is where I need to start the healing process first.
I ask God for the strength to do this each day.
Brian thanks again.
Jim
